Onondaga Case Management Services provides REACH Anger Management
Skills Training Groups to individuals being served by an OCMS program
(ACT, Adult and Children/Youth Case Management, Peer Mentor Service and family members).
These groups are not available to individuals who are not already enrolled in OCMS programs.
The REACH Anger Management program is a cognitive-behavioral approach developed by
Steven C. Simmer. The approach includes relaxation techniques and communication skills
designed specifically for the precontemplative person with anger issues.
The REACH Anger Management Skills group helps the person see the problem as an issue shared by many, and
is ultimately less shaming as a result. It is designed to provide an efficient and structured way
of communicating the basic techniques of anger work, and gets people started in a hurry.
We currently have one adult anger management skills group and will
expand as more facilitators come forward.
Our mission is to teach skills related to emotion regulation as an enhancement of current
OCM services and as an adjunct to primary treatment services. We are committed to
providing access to DBT skills groups to individuals who desire to make behavioral changes
and pursue a life worth living. We empower participants with new behavioral choices and
strategies. We strive to pursue our mission mindfully, non-judgmentally, and effectively.
